to comply with current flame retardant legislation, all Big Hug products are tested to the furniture & furnishings regulation *BS5852 for both outer and inner materials, and have been tested in a UKAS accredited laboratory.

Big Hug is manufactured using both virgin and recycled materials and we are constantly striving to increase the recycled content.
INNERS: Our loose bead polystyrene is manufactured in the UK from 100% recycled material, which has been manufactured without the use of CFC gases (which are harmful to the ozone layer). The blowing agent used is Pentane which also does no harm to the environment. It is 100% RECYCLABLE into a variety of new products. In 2010 to date over 6 tonnes of EPS has been recycled by our manufacturer and returned to the market as new products. The Futon inner is made of 100% recycled polyester fibre made from PET bottles.
OUTER: At present the outer fabric is made from synthetic fabric with 28% recycled content made from PET recycled bottles and we are constantly looking at ways to increase this percentage whilst keeping the quality of the product.
All of our Big Hug range is 100% recyclable with a guarantee that WE will collect and recycle them for you once you have finished with them and make them into more fabulous products without wasting anything!
