Our Charity Work

DOING OUR BIT

We currently support six different charities – just another way for us to help make sure we look after our environment and community.

HERE FOR EVERY DOG AND CAT

As you may have figured out, we love pets here at Hug At Home and so wanted to support a charity that does brilliant work to rescue and care for animals most in need. 10% of all the sales (excluding VAT, p&p) from our 'Meet You' design will go to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, so by buying this super cute Hug Rug design, you will also be helping to raise money for a great cause!

Battersea will always be here for every dog and cat, and has been since 1860. Battersea takes dogs and cats in, gives them expert care they need and finds them new homes that are just right for them. Your purchase will help Battersea continue its important work. Thank you. Produced under license from Battersea Dogs Home Limited to go towards supporting the work of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home (registered charity no 206394). For all licensed products sold by Phoenox Textiles (Hug At Home) across their Battersea range, Phoenox Textiles will donate a minimum of £2,500 plus VAT in royalties to Battersea Dogs Home Limited, which gives its profits to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. HELP US SAVE THE BUMBLEBEES

We are passionate about the environment and for nearly five years have been supporters of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust – a great charity whose mission is to increase the number and distribution of bumblebees. The trust is a science-led organisation and their conservation work is informed through close evaluation of the latest scientific research and best practice.

BEES NEED OUR HELP – but we need them as much as they need us. Bees are crucial to our way of life – without them, farmers wouldn’t be able to pollinate their crops. In a world without bees, our food would cost a lot more to produce and our world would suffer. Help us stop the decline of our wonderful bumblebees – we will donate 10% of all sales (excluding VAT, p&p) from our BEE 1BEE 2 and our new BEE 3 mats and runners to bee charities that work hard in the conservation of our humble bumblebees.

GIVE NATURE A HOME IN YOUR HOME!

Everyone knows the RSPB – they restore, create and enhance land to benefit people and wildlife, from reedbeds and heathland to chalk grassland and wetlands. Our four RSPB designs feature a range of birds, from Sparrows on our ‘Love Birds 1’ mat to Swallows on our Birds 1 design. Last year, we raised an amazing £6,537.21 for RSPB.

BE A CONSCIOUS CUSTOMER

For over 10 years we have been using recycled plastic bottles to make the webbing on our gorgeous Hug Rugs, and recycled industrial plastics go into all of our rubber backed mats and runners. Turning waste plastics into beautiful sustainable products makes sense so we now have the gorgeous HUG RUG SENSE range – the tufts are made of recycled plastic bottles with the same webbing and backing as our recycled cotton tufted Hug Rugs. We also have the HUG RUG WOVEN range made of 100% recycled plastic bottles. We are constantly looking for ways to use as much recycled material in our products as possible.

HARSH FACTS

• Bottles of water take 1000 years to biodegrade, and if incinerated they produce toxic fumes.

75% of plastic bottles are not recycled just thrown away!

• Plastic pieces in the sea now outnumber sealife by 6:1.

• Bottles thrown away each year could circle the earth four times!
